The old minaret adjacent to St Nikolaos church is a perfect reminder of the way the East met the West in the town I made my home, Chania, Crete, Greece. The photographs I post all help to tell a part of a longer story that focuses on the town and its citizens, whether they are living there now, or have made their home in other parts of the world. As a newer resident, by writing about the town in this way, I am trying to put some order into the chaos that I seem to be confronted with.
Nice mosque. Beautiful ceramics.
ReplyDeleteI'd better stay away.
A ceramic it's a beautiful souvenir!
ReplyDeleteAn excellent shot.
ReplyDeleteBTW...Did you ever see Bouboulina and Zorba on the Island...?...lol loved that movie...were in NZ you folks are from?
I've been to both islands back in the 90's
beautiful souvenirs of our history
ReplyDeleteIndeed, what a difference a year makes!
ReplyDeleteI remember those ceramics - very tempting as souvenirs but a tad too weighty to fly home with.
ReplyDeleteVery nice photo. Perfectly aligned Kitsch!
ReplyDeleteThis must be the best spot in the harbour (for both romance and business :-D :-D :-D )
ReplyDeleteHow I long to visit Hania!
ReplyDeleteAloha
I would have to choose a smaller version :-)
ReplyDeletePS Thank you for the kind comment - at least the Greeks are not totally negative. That means they are on the move.
I did a double take here, at first I thought I was looking at a water reflection. Really cool. When did the mosque lose its congregation?
