Night scene

Taking photos at night is very difficult for me. I wanted to show you what old street signs in the town look like.

old street signs hania chania

These used to be lit up, but now no one bothers to replace the burnt-out bulbs, probably because the signs themselves will be replaced sooner or later with standard European Community ones.

  1. I don't think anyone cares about the light signs. Sometimes even the traffic lights are off for hours and they don't care.

  2. Some of the signs remain unlit during the night and obscured by trees during the day. Once the tree blossoms you would only see the sign when you are directly below or not at all :-/

Imagine what could happen if these where STOP signs (STOP signs are known to be nesting into trees that no one thought should be trimmed and causing this kind of accidents :-( )

  3. Perhaps it's an environmentally-friendly measure. You know, saving energy and all that :-)

Seriously, I bet those light bulbs waste energy like nothing else. It's probably best that they don't get replaced.

  4. I have a hard time taking night photos, too. It's not easy!

  6. One of these days they will drown in their own directives.
