The old minaret adjacent to St Nikolaos church is a perfect reminder of the way the East met the West in the town I made my home, Chania, Crete, Greece.
The photographs I post all help to tell a part of a longer story that focuses on the town and its citizens, whether they are living there now, or have made their home in other parts of the world. As a newer resident, by writing about the town in this way, I am trying to put some order into the chaos that I seem to be confronted with.

Bench
RuneE invented the Friday bench photo meme. When he sees my photo today, he may be wondering where the bench actually is. But the rhododendron more than makes up for the lack of bench space.
This bench is located outside the stadium of Hania.
Δώρον, άδωρον :-D, not sure what the English for this expression is though. It's like a present that's not worth giving (maybe) :-)
However, i like the concept of a pot having an olive tree (i think) for shadow and benches around it. If the plant gets trimmed it's going to be a very useful spot for people taking a walk.
What a fantastic post !! Bench with leaves..Great shot.....Also I Have Started My Own Website And Would Like You To Have A Look At It.I Would Love To Have Your Comments On That Also.Unseen Rajasthan
Who needs a bench when you have gorgeous blooms such as these!!
You left a comment recenty on my guest post on Phivos's blog (about Italy) commenting how you discover a country through it's food - and I could not agree with you more. My stomach dictates my travels. I recently tried tripe twice within 2 weeks simply because it was a regional speciality in both Florence (the upcoming trip I was talking about in Phivos' blog) and in Stuttgart Germany while visiting friends. And though this isn't something I would typically eat, I found in the right surroundings it wasn't half bad!! After our recent journey to Italy, I'm already planning another trip in a few months and the decision was primarily dictated because I've run out of Honey Basalmic Vinegar that they make in Sicly and Naples region... so a trip is order! Take care! Toma

ReplyDeleteIndeed it does. Can one imagine a greater combination than a bench with its own rhododendron?
