The old minaret adjacent to St Nikolaos church is a perfect reminder of the way the East met the West in the town I made my home, Chania, Crete, Greece. The photographs I post all help to tell a part of a longer story that focuses on the town and its citizens, whether they are living there now, or have made their home in other parts of the world. As a newer resident, by writing about the town in this way, I am trying to put some order into the chaos that I seem to be confronted with.
Δώρον, άδωρον :-D, not sure what the English for this expression is though. It's like a present that's not worth giving (maybe) :-)
ReplyDeleteHowever, i like the concept of a pot having an olive tree (i think) for shadow and benches around it. If the plant gets trimmed it's going to be a very useful spot for people taking a walk.

ReplyDeleteHaha, this is a funny one.
ReplyDeleteThe good kind of encroachment.
Hi Mari! Doesn't matter where the bench is; the tree is fabulous!"!
ReplyDeleteBlogtrotter has a nice lunch location for you. Enjoy and have a great weekend! I’m having the benefit of the holidays in Portugal this week... ;))
tree bench! fascinating!
ReplyDeleteIndeed it does. Can one imagine a greater combination than a bench with its own rhododendron?
ReplyDeleteWho needs a bench when you have gorgeous blooms such as these!!
ReplyDeleteYou left a comment recenty on my guest post on Phivos's blog (about Italy) commenting how you discover a country through it's food - and I could not agree with you more. My stomach dictates my travels. I recently tried tripe twice within 2 weeks simply because it was a regional speciality in both Florence (the upcoming trip I was talking about in Phivos' blog) and in Stuttgart Germany while visiting friends. And though this isn't something I would typically eat, I found in the right surroundings it wasn't half bad!! After our recent journey to Italy, I'm already planning another trip in a few months and the decision was primarily dictated because I've run out of Honey Basalmic Vinegar that they make in Sicly and Naples region... so a trip is order!
Take care!
Toma
Found your bench via RuneE's Bench of the Week, which I too participate in!
