The old minaret adjacent to St Nikolaos church is a perfect reminder of the way the East met the West in the town I made my home, Chania, Crete, Greece.
The photographs I post all help to tell a part of a longer story that focuses on the town and its citizens, whether they are living there now, or have made their home in other parts of the world. As a newer resident, by writing about the town in this way, I am trying to put some order into the chaos that I seem to be confronted with.

Sick
I knew I needed a blogging break, but I didn't realise I had bronchopneumonia.
Life is a little rough at the moment - normal blogging to resume once I'm well.
Oi, that's sounds bad. Poor girl! Wish I could send you hot chicken soup (known as the Jewish penicillin cure-all). I just made a pot for my neighbor-friend who is down with bronchitis. Be well soon, dear Maria!
Ha, well, rabbit stew might do the trick as well. As long as it is cooked with love, the magic ingredient. Just lie down and enjoy those books and being looked after. Try!
Yuk! I hope they give you something to cure the cough quickly. My coughs like that, if they go unchecked, can last 2 years, and it is NOT fun. Feel better soon!
What!?!? I didn't know you were THAT sick! I hope you're drinking lots of nice hot liquids & getting plenty of rest.
I see you're reading Kitchen Confidential. I've read all of Bourdain's books & just love his show, No Reservations. He did an episode in Hania last year & he went for Bougattsa at some shop that's famous for it down town. It looked so good!!!

ReplyDeletePerastika! I had to smile when I saw the yellow Lysopaine tube. We buy it when we come to Greece and bring it back with us for when we get sick :-)
