The old minaret adjacent to St Nikolaos church is a perfect reminder of the way the East met the West in the town I made my home, Chania, Crete, Greece.
The photographs I post all help to tell a part of a longer story that focuses on the town and its citizens, whether they are living there now, or have made their home in other parts of the world. As a newer resident, by writing about the town in this way, I am trying to put some order into the chaos that I seem to be confronted with.

Camera critters: hungry chooks
Lunchtime in the chicken coop; my uncles' farm in Galatas, Hania.
Nice picyure! My daughter has also chickens but they are safely in a cage after the disappearing of some of them. Probably they were caught by a snake, a dingo or a goanna. Have a great weekend!
Is it me or do the chickens look surprised by this minor photographic intrusion of privacy??? :-)
Free range chicks make the best eggs...They are also "desert deployers" :-D because wherever you let them they just uproot and comb everything :-D :-D :-D
We had a chicken yard when I was a kid. I like the sounds that chickens make, especially the hens; the clucking sound is sort of comforting. Can't keep them here where I live now, of course.
when i was in grade school, our house looked so much like this. a barnyard! my late grandpop was so much into fowls and animals that many would drop by our house as if it was a zoo! i remember my grade 5 science teacher brought the entire class to our house as part of her 'zoology' topic. you'd wonder how high my grade was!
Oh..I remember my Grandpa's farm when I saw this:) Mine is here. Happy CC!~

ReplyDeleteWe had chickens in our back yard some years ago but the smell was annoying and so we gave them away! I still miss the sense of the hot, fresh egg...
Chickens are always hungry, aren't they? When I was a kid I liked to watch them pecking for insects. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I want in life but don't have is chickens. Farm fresh eggs. Maybe someday, but probably not...

ReplyDeleteI like chickens, and I think I've convinced Hubs to build me a pen so I can have some.
ReplyDeleteDo you ever get dragged into wringing their necks?
ReplyDeleteI hated that as a kid.
