We live in a village which has a lot of fields surrounding most of the houses. The area is included in the scenic sights of the town. This train passes our houses every day at midday right throughout the tourist season.
The old minaret adjacent to St Nikolaos church is a perfect reminder of the way the East met the West in the town I made my home, Chania, Crete, Greece. The photographs I post all help to tell a part of a longer story that focuses on the town and its citizens, whether they are living there now, or have made their home in other parts of the world. As a newer resident, by writing about the town in this way, I am trying to put some order into the chaos that I seem to be confronted with.

The train
In Hania, trains have wheels. They're used during the tourist season which runs till the end of October, with scheduled timetables to provide scenic tours to tourists. This particular train is waiting for passengers at the old port.

feel like an exhibit?
ReplyDeletethe trains are like toy trains..
We had a train like this in my island some years ago but unfortunately I had never ramdled with it.
ReplyDeleteWe had a tour with a train like this at Key West and St. Augustine(Florida), five years ago. We had such a good time. The kids loved it.
ReplyDeleteI noticed the timetables and leaflets - useless to us as not accessible but the routes looked interesting. Have to say they don't look very comfortable for a long tour.
ReplyDeleteThe "train" is cute. My chidlren would love it!
ReplyDeleteParking this would be challenging, generally......i think it can only go forwards...not because it does not have a reverse gear but because reversing a 4 linked vehicle needs 3-4 brains to work out how you should turn the wheel at the "engine" so that the last carriage goes the way you want it to :-D :-D
ReplyDeleteI hope that you run outside smiling and waving frantically every time it passes by!
