The old minaret adjacent to St Nikolaos church is a perfect reminder of the way the East met the West in the town I made my home, Chania, Crete, Greece. The photographs I post all help to tell a part of a longer story that focuses on the town and its citizens, whether they are living there now, or have made their home in other parts of the world. As a newer resident, by writing about the town in this way, I am trying to put some order into the chaos that I seem to be confronted with.

SkyWatch Friday: the sun
Most SkyWatchers have shown us photographs of brilliant colourful skies, intermingled with heavy white cotton-flower clouds. I much appreciate the sight of such brilliant sky art work, but they are rare sights in my town. In the summer, the sky is always blue and the sun is always hot and yellow, pretty much like in this photo.

ReplyDeleteYour true alithos photo is enough to bring the sweat. phew...
ReplyDeleteHI! That looks like a true mediterannean sun! I spent my summer vacation some years ago a little east of Chania and I liked it very much. We also drove to the south coast, Paleochora, which was quite a journey because many roads were under construction, and suddenly we found us amongst goats and smelling mountain herbs on little stony roads. From our beach we could see a peninsula reminding us of a sleeping dog.
ReplyDeleteAH that was so beautiful!
