The old minaret adjacent to St Nikolaos church is a perfect reminder of the way the East met the West in the town I made my home, Chania, Crete, Greece.
The photographs I post all help to tell a part of a longer story that focuses on the town and its citizens, whether they are living there now, or have made their home in other parts of the world. As a newer resident, by writing about the town in this way, I am trying to put some order into the chaos that I seem to be confronted with.

Guess what?
Can anyone guess what is lying under the tree? Answer tomorrow.
Gee, this is a tough one. I looked & looked to try to guess what those are but I have to admit I'm stumped. First of all, if they are something edible I think the people of Hania would have harvested them & taken them home. But they sort of look like misshapen ripe avocados, or huge figs or plums. Maybe some sort of nut? Or, perhaps you have a large bird roosting in that tree & those are the droppings. ;)
Not llama poo? Maybe alpaca? Do you have any of those animals? I did so much livestock poop-scooping, I should know what's in your photo. Guess my scatology skills are getting rusty.
Maria, you know what? The fist time I looked at this photo I thought about sth disgusting... But as I looked at the comments above, I'm thinking maybe they're right, yes, oliver?
OH sh..! This is a bang my head on the desk moment when you reveal the answer. I knew I'd seen that characteristic shape of poo so many times before. How could I forget my beloved donkeys???
will have to wait...
ReplyDeletelooks too hard for it to be a fruit..

ReplyDeleteAre they those delicious things whose name starts with C ?
ReplyDeletedefinitely not delicious!
ReplyDeletethey look like the droppings of an animal and I am going to guess "goat".
ReplyDeleteDried up olives ?
ReplyDeleteSomething must have fallen from that tree, but what that might be is beyond me!
ReplyDeleteΚοπριά maybe?
ReplyDeletePerhaps they are small pebbles? Smooth river pebbles? I see some seem to be stashed inside the bottom of the tree.
ReplyDeleteWell then, I'd better not be lazy this time and enlarge the photo if they are not chestnuts.
ReplyDeleteHow about . . . llama turds?
Not llama poo? Maybe alpaca?
