The old minaret adjacent to St Nikolaos church is a perfect reminder of the way the East met the West in the town I made my home, Chania, Crete, Greece. The photographs I post all help to tell a part of a longer story that focuses on the town and its citizens, whether they are living there now, or have made their home in other parts of the world. As a newer resident, by writing about the town in this way, I am trying to put some order into the chaos that I seem to be confronted with.

Skywatch Friday: The old harbour of Chania
It's SkyWatch Friday again and today's weather is calm, breezy and mild.
Anyone for coffee? What about an ice-cream or a fizzy drink? Maybe just a souvenir? The beautiful old port of Hania is calling out to passersby, tempting them into it with its calm waters. The dome of the former mosque is barely visible behind the open white umbrellas.

Wow. This is a stunning photograph and quite beautiful. Enlarged or larger, if clicked, is even more impressive and you can see the former mosque quite well. Nice photography.
ReplyDeleteAnd, by the way, thank you for such generous comments on my blog. I do so much appreciate it.
This must be an early morning photo it is so quiet. Very busy when we were there and the fountain was playing. I think we sat in those chairs on the left one evening waiting for our taxi to pick up us.
ReplyDeleteWhat a view you have for Sky Watch.. thank you.
ReplyDeleteI do like the quietness of an area before the crowds arrive.. it gives you more time to take in what is set out before you.
Thank you for joining in with Sky Watch and helping it along with your picture.
