Orange grove in the town

This orange orchard is found, incredibly enough, in the town of Hania, on a very central traffic-congested road across from St Luke's town cemetery. It is always very well maintained (much much better than our own in Fournes village). The irrigation hoses are strung upin the branches to allow the owner to control the weeds below. The narrow lane in the middle of the photograph is an old irrigation channel. The water supply passed through this channel, and flowed over it to irrigate the field. It is now disused, but it's a very real reminder of the past.

  3. I love mandarin juice as well as orange juice! Fruits are good for the health but I eat them anyway!

  4. I remember those water channels in the old citrus groves (back when we lived in the Coastal Plain). But never saw the hoses strung up high like that. You're lucky they keep the orange groves in town.
