The old minaret adjacent to St Nikolaos church is a perfect reminder of the way the East met the West in the town I made my home, Chania, Crete, Greece. The photographs I post all help to tell a part of a longer story that focuses on the town and its citizens, whether they are living there now, or have made their home in other parts of the world. As a newer resident, by writing about the town in this way, I am trying to put some order into the chaos that I seem to be confronted with.

ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to get fresh vegetables instead of those shipped here from Mexico or California.

The street market only comes on Thursdays here in Dungloe.
ReplyDeleteThere are very strict conservation regulations in the Gower area which was the first Area of Outstanding Beauty established in Britain - if my memory does not deceive. The sand dunes in the middle distance are part of a very important reserve, and Gower is littered with them, thank goodness.
I love this picture. Very lively! We have a street market nearby and the produce looks good, but I hardly ever shop there. I hate to admit it, but the supermarket is more convenient for me, as it's open (almost) 24/7.
