The old minaret adjacent to St Nikolaos church is a perfect reminder of the way the East met the West in the town I made my home, Chania, Crete, Greece.
The photographs I post all help to tell a part of a longer story that focuses on the town and its citizens, whether they are living there now, or have made their home in other parts of the world. As a newer resident, by writing about the town in this way, I am trying to put some order into the chaos that I seem to be confronted with.

Aliens: guess what?
This vegetable looks like an alien. Do you know what it is?
Kohlrabi, yum... Cards are to relatives. I agree with you, I've only been away for 5 years and have lost contact with the majority of friends. Several reasons I think, the pace of life in the U.K., some are jealous of what we've done, some are too wrapped up in their families and lives, some of my friends are still not into the computer and internet.I tried for a while, sending e mails, cards and letters when we were sailing here, so, what more can you do? I'm sad but...life's too short! Lovely to hear from you again.
I read your answer but I still had to search for it. I don't even know if we have it hear in the Philippines. The description I read makes it sound yummy though (I love vegetables). I'm definitely willing to give it a try if I ever encounter it!
In Cyprus we call them 'kouloumbra'!!!
